Nearville Customer Cancellation Policy


At Nearville, we aim to make sharing easy, fair, and neighborly for everyone. We understand that sometimes plans change, and we are committed to supporting our community through those unexpected moments. Our goal is to encourage thoughtful commitments while offering flexibility when truly needed.


For Renters


  • Cancel more than 2 days before the scheduled pickup:

    • You’ll only be charged a non-refundable processing fee, which is payment processing fee from Stripe, $0.30 plus 2.9% of the base rental fee. The base rental fee refers to the amount charged for the rental of the item, excluding taxes, delivery, and any additional fees that may apply.

    • The rest of your rental fee will be refunded within 5-7 business days.


  • Cancel 1 day before the scheduled pickup:

    • You will be charged 50% of the base rental fee as a cancellation charge.

    • The remaining 50% will be refunded to your original payment method.

For Owners

    • First cancellation: No penalty! We get it—unexpected things happen. That's why we offer your first cancellation free of charge as a courtesy to support our community spirit.

    • Second or subsequent cancellations: A cancellation fee of 20% of the base rental fee will be charged..


  • Cancel 1 day before the scheduled pickup:

    • If you cancel within 1 day of the scheduled pickup, you will be charged 50% of the base rental fee as a cancellation fee.


Friendly reminder: By keeping your commitment, you help create a trusted space where renters feel confident to borrow from their neighbors. We appreciate every effort you make to keep your reservations—and we’re here to support you if something truly unavoidable comes up.


How Refunds Work


  • Refunds are processed automatically to your original payment method within 5-7 business days, if that payment method is still valid. If the original payment method is unavailable, please contact us at support@nearville.com to arrange an alternative method.

  • Please note that depending on your bank’s processing times, it may take an additional 5–10 business days for the refund to appear.
